What are migration levels like in your area?

Migration is a topic which often features in newspaper column inches and on our television screens. Yesterday it was revealed that over the last year net migration (the balance between immigration and emigration) reached its highest ever level of 330,000.

Short term migration: a recent picture

In the year ending mid-2013, many more people left England and Wales (emigration) than came into the country (immigration) on a short-term basis, between 3 and 12 months. The majority of emigrants were British, while immigrants were mainly from the EU.
